The other day I'm sitting at home when the phone rings, it's the silly chevy boys at work. They start in on how they want me to go down there with my Road Runner so they can take it out with their collective Chevelles (they knew I had changed back to street tires and thought they could beat me in front of everybody with my skinny 14" radials!).
So I took up the challenge and took out stupid chevy boy #1 with his 66 327 4speed and Drag Radials. So they went for reinforcements, (70 chevelle, new 408, mid 13 sec. car), and I gave him the leave, went around him, and sent stupid chevy boy#2 packing!
Everybody at work was calling them dumb and dumber!
It was perfect, they were accusing each other and arguing while I parked my old war horse (12 year old 8.5:1 440) and took in the glory. Tooo Sweeet.

Great story moparmanjames!! It always nice to hear about a chevelle that goes down. I had some punk kid ask me if I wanted to run his 350 chevelle with my 440 charger. I told him i'd meet him at the race track. It was not surprising to me that he never showed up. I guess he did not want to see a big 15.5 at 85mph on the board. Oh well. He ended up trashing his car in a street racing last i heard. His car is now in a junk yard, where it should be. Its funny how a guy will put headers on his small block chevy and think it can run with the big boys.

Yep, actually I try to keep most of the racing at the track,
but since it was over in an Industrial area at night with no traffic, I didn't see much harm in it. Street Racing here in Las Vegas is usually every Saturday night, at a deserted road somewhere. Sometimes I'll go and watch, but I haven't been lately because there's just too many Imports and they bore the hell out of me!
I went to a points race at the track a while back and they were running a separate Import drag show at the same time. Some were pretty fast but most broke and the race took all day because of cleanup time!
I hate Imports!

What is their thinking, anyway? Bowtie boys, that is. I know a guy who did NOTHING to an old 350 except for adding headers, a 750 holley, and Edelbrock intake. It was from a 72 Chevelle, which said SS, but who is to say anything more. He puts it in an S10. Slaps on a couple of 275/60's and installs a Hurst shifter. I heard nothing else from another close friend of mine for a week except how "fast" it was. So much so, that when he came over and wanted a piece of Mopar, I accepted, blown head gasket and all. I know this was stupid, but I had enough of this. I filled the reservoir and we left for the industrial park. On the way, we found the light on the highway (that never turns red when you want it to) turning red with no one in front of us. We actually both got on it to make it before it changed again. The light changes, and my Charger, with a stall too low and a one-wheel wonder sits next to him for about 20'. Then the MoPar began pulling past without mercy. I then shifted at a mere 4k twice up to 120mph, smoking to beat hell the whole time. I just had to show him how badly outclassed he was.
The distance was between .3 & .4 miles and I had a lead of over 8 car lengths. That was being polite.
They can be taught. Together we will teach them.

There is nothing wrong with this Bow-Tie Man. I have a small block (383) 83 Trans am that runs high 11's with no NOS and ice cold A/C. It must be different around my area becouse the Mopars and GM's hang together. No mustangs and DEFINITLY NO IMPORTS.

P.S. I also have a new 4.7 Dakota that I love and my best buddy has a killer 73 Challenger.

Sounds nice TAman, Let me guess, vortec or aluminum heads, Roller cam, beefed up 700r4, 4.10 gears, and probably 3300lbs with you in it?
Let me know how close I am. I once built a 83 camaro for a buddy of mine.
I keep teasing my Silly chevy friends by threatening to put a real 383 Mopar in his nova. You should try it, probably pick up a few tenths!

Actually MOPARMANJAMES your partially right. It does have a beefed up 700R4 and 4.10 gears. I use Dart Sportsman heads (lightly ported) Eagle Rods and J&E pistons (about 11:1 comp) a solid lift cam Stealth intake and a 780 Holley. Best time so far with BFG Drag Radials is 11.70 at I believe 119mph. The car weights 3390 without my fat ass in it. (add another 280)

Cool

Not bad, I see you used the stealth intake as I did. I bet some of your silly chevy friends were scratching thier heads about that one. It's a great intake.
Damn, Iv'e found someone as fat as I am! I guess thats why your Drag radials are hooking up so well, but seriously, how big is that solid grind? I'm guessing around 248 @ .050? Nice choice on the carb, I might have gone a little smaller to keep the velocity up a little.
I built a 427 for a friend that was 10:1 with a similar cam
and a 650 double pumper and performer RPM, 3400lbs, 4.10's, turbo 350, 4000stall, it ran 11.47 up here in the desert heat. Poor guy, when I met him he was running high 12's with a 468, typical chevy guy!

The cam specs out at 248 at .050 .555 lift on both intake and exhaust. Its a Comp Cams grind.

The BFG Drag Radials hook pretty good they spin a little when the RPM's come on.

2800 Vigilante stall speed.

I'm hoping for 11.50's with better traction, and possibly a diet (Ya Right).

Good job! Your making great torque with that combo. How's that 10 inch holding up to the abuse?

Thanks for the compliment. The 10 bolt is holding up fine so far. In fact I can't believe it has held up, especially since it only has a 7.5 inch ring gear! The only mods to the rear are an Auburn Pro Series Carrier, Richmond 4.10 Gears, Timkin Bearings and a TA Performance aluminum cover with end-cap support.
