Hi there. I've got a 70 440 HP going into a 70 Charger. I'm a little concerned about the combo I am building. It's .040 over, 9.4 compression. Stock heads, new valvesprings, everything unported. Edelbrock RPM, 750 Carter AFB. 1 7/8" Hookers, 2.5 inch exhaust. Cam is the 284/.484. I have two questions:
1. How badly over-cammed am I with the stock heads? Will this work on the street, or have I gone too far? 2. Will it be a slug off of the line with the stock torque converter (10.75" 2200 RPM)? I initially thought that the 3.55's would make up for this, but now I have my doubts. If anyone is running a similar combo, or has some general advice, I would really appreciate it. I will probably have driving impressions in a week or two (doing paint prep right now). Thanks in advance, Mike |

Frankly, I think you'll like the performance. A hair more gear and converter might be nice, but I think you'll be happy. Of course, within two years you'll be running 4.10s, 3200 stall, .509 cam with a six pack! Seems to be the way such things go with me. Start out as daily drivers, become more like slow race cars. Gotta love it!
