Question

I'd appreciate some tips about which carb is to be preferred to feed a mild modified 383(280duration 0.474 cam, electronic ign, headers, cheetaa manual valve body,3:55 sure grip.)car is a 70 Challenger
both carbs are 750 cfms
AVS is from a 71-440 stand. perf. and the 3310s
is a manual choke from a 71-383 magnum.
thanks

The AVS can have the metering rods changed without pullin the whole thing apart. The air valve is adjustable without having to dissamble a vac pot and change springs. The air valve controls how fast the secondaries kick in. I am prejudiced against Holleys. Parts for Holleys are more readily available. Edelbrock sells tuning kits for Carters. Are you staying mostly street? The factory Holley that was on my old 383 was I think 500cfm. I switched to a Carter 625 and got more power and mileage. What intake are you running? Your cam looks like the old Direct Connection"Street Hemi" grind.

An original AVS should be a 625cfm,and your holley if original equipment should be a 600(single feed),given those choices Id run the Holley,if in fact both were 750s Id run the carter if I mainly see street duty but if I wanted every pony avail Id run the 750 Holley(dual feed).........PRO........

Default carb`s

i like the carter for the street. but your r/r isiset up close to what my70 r/r was. it went faster and et`d quicker with the holley.the early 3310 were 780 cfm later were rerated at 750. the 383 holleys were heat stove choke and about 600-650 cfm.

At least I got some points of view..and now I guess i
wanna try to swap that AVS no later than next sunday.
That cam was the old hemi grind infact, the manifold is a stock 1970 unit, for now I can keep ythis motor as it is,
I need some spare money to get the torque and power that this car deserves.

Default carb`s

my roadrunner i used an old edelbrock DP4B manifold on my 383 it liked the manifold also ran headers with 2 1/2 ehaust with 14" turbo mufflers with 2 1/4 tail pipes. 3.91`s . 2500 stall converter. 3310 carb . i ran the same cam you have. would run 13.70`s off the street. tune to track with open headers 28" cheater slicks would run 13.40-13.50. not bad mfor a heavy car

Default Carb

Robe, My 70 Road Runner has the same cam and I used the factory intake and a 750 Holley double pumper,3.55 gears and a 4-speed with factory exhaust. It ran great.(car is currently under restoration) I also ran it with the factory issue 585 cfm Holley, but had to do a few modifications to make it work.I'd go with the Holley,it's more user friendly to tune.

The AVS from any 440 is a 750 cfm, all others were 625 cfm. I vote for the AVS.
