Plymouth on the heads do you have the stock aka original springs on them or new springs?

If new then shift between 58-6500. I know its a range but different combos like different areas. Mine likes to be shifted at 6300. My 444 will most likely be shifted at 58-5900 maybe 6000 but not much more.

As far as times I would expect mid to low 13's with around 100-106 MPH and about a 1.6-1.7 60ft time. I would bowl port those heads though if it wasn't done with the larger valves.

I have a 68 Barracuda with a 383 also. Not the same components as mine but close lets see how close my guess is. I think it will be real close.

Christian

Plymouth,ct you have a pretty decent set-up there.

Your car is light (compared to big b-body) & the 383 will benefit from the 4.30's. They do like to rev, shifting above 6000 to say 6200 is cool, maybe even a bit higher. You will loose a little time due to the stock rebuild tranny (should have a shift kit or different valve body, 5.0 kickdown lever & perhaps some red clutches, etc). You don't have the torque to pull the kind of 60' time mentioned in the other post, even with the 4.30's. Look for mid 1.8's (at best) to high 1.9's for 60'. I agree with cristiancuda that low 13.'s is likely, but I say at 104. With time I believe you can tune this combination to 12.8-12.9.

BTW dump the BFG's if you want better times. Good racing.....

I think you could probably get this into the 12.5's or better on a good air day. This depends on what altitude your at in CT. I'm guessing that the motor should make a little over 400hp. I would shift it at 6200. You won't really know for sure till your at the track though. Also, have you done any port matching? What size exhaust pipes?

Question

Plymouth ct.;

I'm guessing that your M-1 is a single plane, right? Also , have you ported your heads? These things are important to know when guessing about times and speed as well as a shift point.

Cool

You should be in the 12.50-12.70's.The BFG's are killing you.A set of drag slicks will make this car move.My Road Runner with a 3800 converter,4.88's and 10.5x29.5 Firestones ran 12.20's with the same setup you have except for the above mentioned items,and stock valve sizes.Shift it at 6200-6500. If this is you Ken,how's everything been going?? E-mail me. cpd6200@yahoo.com

Plymouth I am interested in how your car runs as I am planning on going to track real soon and I have close to the same combo!My car is on www.bigblockdart.com and its the 72 383 Dart. My short block is out of my buddies 68 383 Cuda and it would fly!! He ran it with stock bore and stock pistons at 9.5-1 and 906 heads with stock valves and some home porting , had the .557 MP cam and a TM6 with a 700 DP and hooker headers. It had a 3800 TA convertor with a manual valve body and 4.56 gears with 30 x 10 slicks and it went a 11.42 at119 best on open headers! I hope to get in the 12,s with my combo but I should get to the track within a month I hope! Let me know how you make out. Good luck , Ron

some where between 10.0 and 20.0.......just kidding,with slicks and open hdrs a 12.60-80 isnt unbelievable,but with street tires and exh traction will be a prob so Id gues a 13.6 or so at 102-104mph...
