I got the 64 Dart out for the first time since November of 98. It had new MT 29.5 10.50W slicks and SS springs, but the same old 50 wt oil from years ago! The first burn-out, I spun it up to 7000 in 3rd gear and sat there for an hour or two before the slicks warmed up. It sure did feel good to get back into the car. I then went on the catch a .002 light! wow! The pushbutton shifter was wonderful. The little 273 sounded like it still had some poof left in it, so I let it go to 7800 in 1st, 2nd, but ran out of track midway up in 3rd. I did a 7.92 at 88 mph at International Dragway in Edinburg, Texas. The Air Density was at 104% according to my Baro, Hygro, Thermo, and my calculations. I went on to win absolutely nothing as I got eliminated before the money rounds.
My next trip will be to Wall Dragway in San Angelo, Texas. I will try a different torque converter to see how much they have been improved in the last 20 years. Oh, my 1966 gold metalflake helmet did not pass tech inspection at Edinburg! I had to open up my new BELL. The new helmet sure is more comfortable than that old skull cap! I also got to meet our ChristianCuda. I plan to take the Dart up to the Dover, Ohio area this Summer while visiting my Mudder in Law. Can someone tell me a good friendly track within a couple hours drive of Dover/New Philly? Have a good season Billy |

Billydelrio. Magnolia raceway is in between Canton and Dover Ohio. Your about 30 minutes away from a track
that has lots of good memorys for me.Its an old airport that used to be a1/4 mile track back in the 70,s.It is now an 1/8th. mile track. How those guys used to do 10,s and stop in the 1/4 is beyond me. I do 7.12@100 and still prefer the use of the whole track to slow down. It is a great place though, if you bring your car let me know when the time gets near, I,ll give you directions, and stop out myself.A 7.92 is a great time for a 273.My 7.12 requires a 509 440, but I expect a6.95 my next time out.
