Question

Just for fun.

If you inherited 15,000 bucks and your better half said you might as well get that muscle car you've been dreaming of half of your life, what car would it be ???

What options are on the "have to have" list ?

I'm a B-body man,so I'd have to say a 68-70 Road Runner or GTX. The GTX would have to be a 1968, R6 red,727,white interior,console,3.55 gears,and no power anything.Since I have a 70 'Bird, I'd like a silver 68 with Hemi and 727,the 69 would be a B5 blue 440 6pak,727 car,and I'd have to have another 70 model,this one in lime green with also a 440 6pak and 4-speed.I'd also like to have a 1969 383 4-speed Super Bee in Lemon Twist yellow.All cars to have no power accessories.E-body?? 1970 'Cuda triple black with 440 and 727,this one loaded.A-body?? 69 Dart 440/727 or a 340/4-speed also lemon twist yellow.

Damn RamMan, you've got a heluva woman there. She's always letting you get stuf for your truck, now she's letting you get a muscle car.

I would have to put it toward a convertible Challenger or Cuda, myself

AND for pete,s sake drive the damn thing, we have all seen enough trailer queens that haven,t had their thermostats open in 20 years!!! Now I know I,m gonna get hollered at for that one,,,but so be it,.

How about a 69 Hemi Charger with a column auto? Maybe red/black/black? That or a white 70 440-6 4spd Cuda with a shaker...
If you go with an e-body, buy one that's already done. Can't afford to restore one these days...

A 71 Charger R/T 440 6 pack 4 speed like the one I saw the other day. Original owner 367,000 miles. Or a downpayment on a 69 Daytona. Larry

Cool

I would love to build a clone of the '69 Road Runner that I bought new in Oct of '68 at the old Pioneer Chrysler-Plymouth Dealership in Flint, Michigan when I first got back from 'Nam. Salesmans name was Al Bennet. I'd cruise the wheels off that sucker. Also would love a '67-'69 Dart HT or 2 door post car for a screamin' small block project. And for smooth???? A '63-'64 Chrysler HT with a 451/474 Big Block, lowered a couple inches, some tastefull dechroming, kick ass sound system, A/C that blows ice cubes and an umlimited supply of 93 octane premium for lotsa crusin'. Uhhhh, was that $15K or $150K?

either a 1970 charger rt/se or a 1970 coronet r/t. either way ti would have to be the factory gold color with black bumblebee stripes, and a black vinyl top, and weld draglites. and either a 440 or a 426, but it would have to be backed up by a pistol gripped 4 speed, and an 8.75 rear end so i could change gears all the time. black interiors with high back buckets, air conditioning, power brakes and steering, and an am/fm radio. hey, i like to drive mine, not look at it! you cant beat a gold/black 68-70 b-body, but maybe my 440 4 speed 72 duster could come close.

I'd buy a '68 Sport Satelite 318/4spd and put in a 505hp MP crate motor and a bb 4spd and put some fat tires on it and have alot of fun!

This is such a tough question. Usually you have a car in mind and can't find the $15K...but given the chance I would go to an antique/collector/muscle car auction and see what was available there. Here in Branson we have one twice a year. There are some very good buys. Many times a car is a clone and will be described as such. The collectors poo-poo those cars because they are not original. Alot of these cars sell without a reserve and have no intension of going back on the trailer they came in on. I couldn't think of anything better to have to drive around and play with. Nobody would want to trash rare vehicle but, you just might have the urge to heat up the skins and roast them for a block or two on carbon copy. You would also have enough money left over for a kick-ass sound system and maybe a big blue bottle in the trunk. I'm real partial to B-bodies, something about all the mass but, a Dart with a 383 or 440 would be nice or a look alike AAR Challenger, hell even a General Lee could be a real hoot if the price was right, and a convertable anything is always great on a warm summer night crusing the Sonic.

Thumbs up

<dd>I gotta agree with that, Belvedere: I'd go with a clone all the way. I'd look for a non-numbers matching '70-'71 E-body, maybe even a convertible if I could score one.

<dd>Ah, a clone/non-#'s big-block 383 or 440 '71 'Cuda or Challenger with an A727 tranny and 3.55-to-4.10 rear axle, $13K or less. Then I'd blow the last two grand on a Gear Vendors' Overdrive unit (0.78:1 final overdrive ratio) for highway cruising...

Where I come from, half these cars listed are well over the 15 grand mark, unless the dreamcar was under construction. My friend with the 440+6 restored 69 Superbee gets all the looks from the public at all the shows. We have had all kinds of Mopars around it and it doesn't matter. They still go straight to that car. Today it won Best Of Show at the Anual Fathers Day show out of 300 pre- '75 cars of all types. We had 9 Baddass Mopars next to it and it was on the end of the row where you could hardly see it. It still didn't matter. I didn't mean to offend anyone else here. It's just my 5 year observation. I have beat him out a couple of times with a trophy, but I consider it a miricle or a fluke. Sometimes you can't even see his car there are so many people crowded around it. I'd trade him in a minute! He has already recieved two 35 grand cash offers. Woops, there goes the budget!!! By the way my brother has a '69 383 Superbee, 4speed,console, ramcharger scoops, optional side scoops, bucket seats, bumblebee stripe. Looks like it's doing 200mph when parked. Out of my budget. He wants a convertible. He's demanding 8grand for the Bee. The only problem is it is a dark green original car and now it's Plum Crazy. Goes like a bat out of hell though! Intrested?

This ones easy. I already have a 69barracuda that is stripped to almost nothing. I'd take the fifteen grand and spend it on the MOPAR performance race block built to 392CID with ported magnum heads and a 6pack. Then I'd stuff it with nothing but the finest MOPAR parts. I'd put an A518 auto behind it with an 8 3/4 rear and 4.57 gears. I'd tub it ofcourse. Then I'd go cruising in my all Shivy and Furd hometown and wish there was someone worth racing.

Heh, heh, heh... any pinhead can buy someone's finished '69 Camaro for $5,000, so if you want another belly-button, by all means, go right ahead.

Those of us with the true need for speed already know what to look for...

OK Dummy C. You go spend your 15,000 on a Chevy. Thats just one more loser on the road. Don't forget to save most of that 15,000 for replacement parts. By the way, this is MOPARCHAT not MORONCHAT, You have the wrong site.
