I've heard of people using a MSD 3 step to slow down at the top end rather than hitting the brakes to keep from braking out.
I guess you chip the 3rd step about 500 below your finish line rpm. When you want to dump the guy at the finish line you would hit a button on the steering wheel or wherever wired to the 3 step. The engine would slowly lower to that rpm. Also you can keep your foot to the floor if you decide to take off again. You can just tell your friends that you hit the high end limiter......lol. I know some tracks will disqualify you if they see you jam the brakes. I know I've almost been into the guard rail trying to dump someone and this sounds like a MUCH better Idea. I'm going to wire in one this year. What does everyone think? Jason |

I have a 3-step in my Duster, and the one thing that I can tell you is that it won't take off much speed, other than what little engine braking you will get, and it makes a huge BANG! out the exhaust. Not trying to be a wiseguy, but it would be much safer to just learn how to dial your car.

Your telling me that you've never dumped a guy if you had him beat?
My car will run within 2 100's every run. I think it's dialed in pretty good. I'm just looking for a safer way to dump him if I have him beat. Jason |
