Is there a legal way to install a 5 point harness without a roll bar? Id like the added safety of the harness but dont want to cut my car up installing a roll bar. This m,ay be a dumb question with an obvious answer but Im still pretty new at this stuff. Thanks

Some of the seat belt manufactures make belts were the shoulder harness bolts to the floor. Some of the pure stock guy's use them around here. How fast is the car? if it's not faster than 12.00 it's not needed. Plus NHRA makes you replace them every 2 years. But check w/ Simpson, RCI, etc. They should have what your looking for

I asked the tech man from RT66 about this at the Racer's Expo in Jan. He told me that to be legal, there has to be a "T" shaped mount behind the driver's seat that raises the attaching point of the shoulder belts. Probably best to check with the NHRA Tech Dept. on this one.

thats good to know about the 12.00 and under thing
This car definatly wont be seeing high elevens, high twelves maybe Its gonna be used for weekend autocrossing its mainly gonna be just to keep me in one spot Is there anyway to mount somthing to the ceiling i could hook them to? I have a 73 duster and I was wondering if i would be able to mount them to the support bar running across the center of the roof. |

I'm also interested in this since my car is daily driver. With no shoulder belt even a minor fender bender can do some serious damage. Shoulder belts in other cars have probably saved me serious injury a few times.
Are there any shoulder belt setups that are commonly used in mopars? |

Whoa, whoa!
Do NOT attach these to the roof! In case of roll-over, your roof will collapse (however slightly) and this would directly affect the tension on your shoulder straps. If you're not installing a roll-cage, and don't plan on buying race seats with "slide-trough" holes for the straps, then anchor them to the floor and cross them behind your seat so they won't slip off of your shoulders in case of serious "turbulence".
