I have a 1971 Satellite with a 74 318 and auto trans in it. I also have a 340 intake and 600 cfm Holly carb on top which helps a lot. I am thinking about the re doing the heads, upgrading to elec ignition, instaling a cam and getting headers. My first question is should I find a pair of 360 heads and go with them, or shave the 318's and do a good valve job on them? Second is what cam do I need for such a heavy car/small motor combo. with a stock auto trans and rear? I also have no power brakes. Third is what should I do with the rear end it's not a sure grip and would like to possibly race it on the 1/4 mile?
