I POSTED A NEW THREAD CALLED CAMSHAFT IDENTIFICATION. i DECIDED NOT TO USE THAT CAM. ANYWAYS WHAT I WANT TO DO IS MAKE MY SATELLITE A LITLLE FASTER. WHAT I HAVE KNOW IS A 318 THAT IS COMPLETLY STOCK WITH 273 GEARS. THE CAR RAN A BEST OF 10.52 1/8mile and I WOULD LIKE TO GET IT INTO THE 9.50-9.69 range. REMEMBER THIS CAR IS MY BACK UP CAR TO DRIVE TO WORK IF THE DAYTONA BREAKS DOWN. HERE IS WHAT I'VE GOT to add
Factory 340 intake #2531915-2
360 heads #3671587m
600cfm vac. secondaries Holley
3.55 gears
also be useing stock conv. and exhaust manifolds that was on the 318. All the stuff listed above is what I have to use because it is what I have. Ok These are the 2 camshafts I am going to choose from from PAW.
Duration @ .050 adv lift deg
210-220 268-278 429-444 114
214-224 280-290 443-443 112
The first cam is a 275 h.p. 340 cam.
Which one do u think I should use and what e.t. do u think it will run on 1/8.

Use the 340 stocke replacement cam.I've used these in 318's for years and have been very happy with the results.Hopefully you are using dual exhaust, but from experience,a set of 1 5/8" headers and 2.5 pipe will work great.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT use the stock 318 exhaust manifolds with that combination. You will be wasting your time and money. Also, get the heads milled to raise compression.

I do have dual exhaust. I am not wanting to put headers on car but what manifolds would work on a b-body and would I have to change the exhaust pipe to get them to fit.

214/224. Also, like the boys said, headers are a MUST!!! Use a cranking compression check and try to achieve 165PSI for 93 octane or 145PSI for 87 octane. Power will come way up. A little converter helps more on the 1/8mi than it would on the 1/4mi. But we're getting ahead of our selves.

If you use 360 heads at least use 360 exhaust manifolds. The ports and outlet are bigger.

THE 340 cam is good and 340 exhaust manifolds are good too but if you use stock 318 manifolds gasket match the ports on the manifold and smooth out the approche in the manifold with a die grinder you can remove allot of meet iff you look .Most people do not try to open the manifolds up ?i ben doing it for years with vary good results and it even sounds better .think about it if you open the bowls and exhaust ports why not the manifolds?not only that it's free HP. just use a 2 1/4-2 1/2" pipe.Don't get me wrong i like headers too but it's cheap and works good.
