My 318 has a sticky exhaust valve. Im just wondering if there is an easy way to fix this. I dont want to pull the heads if I dont have to and I definatly dont want to put any money in them. Is there a cheap fix for this. Or atleast anything i can try?

I never heard of an easy quick fix for that. A simple trip to the shop is probly in line for this problem.

there is no quick fix. if its makin alot of noise, nows the time to pull both heads and get that long awaited valve job. you wont regret it. while your at it the cam could have a worn lobe[s] so change that to. check that valve train!!!!!

this is not in everybodys book but has this car been sitting a while,if so you could try a little oil around the valve stem and taping it gently(not side ways ,only on the end),work it up and down a few times .if it isnt' stuck to bad the spring usaully brings it back up for you. if you are driving it everyday and it is sticking you need to fix it the right way and right away.

Thanks 70gtx,
Maybe I should have said this earlier. Thre car has been sitting for about 3 years. It has been run maybe a total of 30 min on and off the past 6 months. I really dont want to service the heads as I plan to replace them when funds allow me too. Any other suggestions?

As you probably already know, there are off-the-shelf oil additives that claim to "free up sticking valves and lifters", and so on. If I had the pleasure of having to deal with this, I'd try an easy and inexpensive fix first, like adding Marvel Mystery Oil to the crankcase and running things at fast idle for 5-10 minutes to see if there's any improvement. It's pretty good stuff, and may just help you out. Good luck.
