I need some help figuring all this out as I know nothing right now!
First off, rubbing problems. All tires and wheels mentioned are 15".
My 205/70 rub bad on the fronts. What size should I go to to get rid of that? 205/65s or maybe 205 60s?
How big can the rears take without problems? I was thinking of 245/55s but don't know if 265/50s would fit ok.
For wheels, I like the looks of Eagle Alloys Series 55s. Should they fit ok? I also have no clue about offset or backspacing or even what they mean. I'm guessing 15x7s would be ok for the front 205s and what, 15x8 for 245 rears or 15x10 for 265? what backspacing should I need for those?
My car needs wheels NOW and I might as well go beefy cuz if all goes right it could be a 440 car come next spring.

thanx very much, Ian

sorry bout that GThomas. I had written it all down but deleted and started again and forgot the simple stuff (as usual). it's a `76 Duster

Next time you post a question you should mention what model, year, modifications etc. If you're putting tires that are 265's on a neon they won't fit!

It sounds like your wheel offset/backspacing is the problem with your front tires not the tire size. If your rubbing is at the front lower fender area you can drill a new hole location for the brace so it pushes the fender out a little for tire clearance. I did this on my 74 Duster which had E70-14's with keystone classic wheels upfront. If you are rubbing on top of the fender you can adjust your ride height up alittle for extra clearance. Rear tire size is dependent on many factors and watch out how tall a tire you go with since it will change your final gear ratio.

Hey, thanx for the help. Going by the D78-14 size (which I was told was stock) I think the 265/50s are the same size so I think it should be ok IF they'll fit. Also I think the 205/65 would be the same on the front.
My front tires rub on top of the fender when I go over bumps with the wheels turned. How do I adjust the ride hight? Could it be from worn suspension?

Thanx again, Ian

Mopar_nutz I'm running 265/50's on 15x10 inch rims in the rear and have an 1/8 inch clearance on the fender well lip and the same at the springs (super stock springs). Measure BOTH sides because it is possible to have a little difference of clearances. I used plumb lines from the fender well lip, the brake drum and the spring and measured my clearances and offset of the rims I needed. It has the 8 3/4 inch rear end and the rims do not have any offset. Check out the pictures of my 72' Duster at www.xposeu.com and click on cars. Crank up your torsion bar to raise the front end and buy a good set of gas shocks (I'm using KYB's). My tires rubbed in the front also, but I had my friend at the body shop cut and reshape the fender when I had it repainted. Good luck and post a picture when you get your car finished.
