RPM Differences

Has anyone ever noticed any difference between your tach and MSD rpm chips? I suppose there could be some but as much as 500 rpm? I measured the ohms on my chips and my buddys, same readings. How is it possible that my Autometer foules me or am I getting blind from gasoline fumes...

I have seen things like this. A buddy had a 7400 chip in his high side and car was stumbling at top end even though he was only going through at 6800. He finally pulled the high side chip and corrected the problem.

You might send your unit back to MSD and have it checked. Something inside may have gone bad.

SB, my guess would be your tach is out, my Autometer did the same thing right out of the box. Take it back or try a buddies...

We have experienced the same problem. Replace the chip with a new one (same RPM) and see if the problem goes away. We have had them go away in the middle of a race. I think it has to do with heat, frequency and duration of bumping the chip.
