I just got a great deal on a set of Torq-thrust D's from a friend, who only has about 10 miles on them and is now selling stuff due to divorce. They have some rather cheap Wingfoot tires right now, but brand new. I paid $400 for 4 15x7 absolutely new condition TorqThrusts, including the new tires, chrome lugs, etc. I also had to give him my old brushed aluminum rims with spinners and bald tires. Anyway, I would have preferred 15x8 or larger for the back, but it was such a good deal . . . I will soon have the Wingfoots burned off. What is the widest tread width tire that I can safely put on these 15 x 7's? It is a 1970 Charger 500 with stock wheelwells. I would like to keep the tires above 27" tall, as I don't want to go steeper than the 3.91's are giving me..... What do you think?

Safe tire sizes
Safety is the key word here. A 255/60-15 would work on the rear as well as a 255/70-15. The 60's are 10''wide and 27'' tall. The 70's are about the same width; however they are 29'' tall.
