i bought the mopar electronic igniton conversion kit, does the ballost resistor have to be grounded, shoul i leave it were the old one was, the kit came with a long screw what is that for,

joe. don't groung the resistor. the long screw is used to hold the connector to the ECU.

this may sound stupid but what is the connector. were the resistor was there is no paint bare metal , looks like it was sanded off, does this make a difference.

joe. You have a robber connector at the end of a wiring harness that came in the kit, this is the connector i'm talking about. Look at the ECU where the pins are. There should be a threaded hole where that screw goes to hold the connector in place. The bare spot on the firewall may have been caused by the resistor, they can put out some heat, which could crack and peal the paint. When you install the new resistor, make sure you have clearance between the resistor and firewall.

so the resistor cant touch the firewall, should i put some washers, how do i keep it from touching.

I'm not a pro or anything but I would think that the firewall would act as a heat sink for the resistor. It could only help it to not burn up. Thats the way they came from the factory too. It's ceramic so it wouldn't matter if the back of it touched metal.

Just a thought.
