From what you have said, I would recommend a vacuum secondary carb. I like my Speed Demon, the quality seems very good, but have not compared performance to a Holley. Your engine is fairly mild, so a 750 is all you need. I have been told that a 750 Demon actually flows more than a 750 Holley.

Default carb and intake

Hi,
I`ve tried the 750 demon (mech 2ndary) on my 440 and didn`t like it.. It had an off idle stumble and didn`t like to idle very good.
I switched to a 750 holley vacuum secondary carb and its much better. I did put a 4.5hg power valve in the holley before I installed it...The stock one was alittle high for my motor (6hg) but with your cam the stock power valve should work fine.
The performer RPM intake would work well with your combo.
Hope this helps.

Drivers mopars,

Like 440jim said, a 750 is really all you need for your combo. And the suggestion of the Performer RPM by Wedge440 is sound. My son runs both of these on his car & is deep into the 13's.

One suggestion I would offer to save a bunch of dollars, is to buy the 750 Holley either double pumper or vac secondary at a swapmeet. They can be found used in the area of $75 to $125 & there is nothing to changing a power valve, a few gaskets & some needle valves. It's a far cry from the $400 you are expecting to pay!

I have a place up in Garden Valley not far from you & 2 extra 3310's rebuilt & ready to go just collecting dust. If you decide to go that route & want some help e-mail me. Also have an extra Performer 440 that would be a whole lot cheaper than a new Performer RPM.

Good luck

I just talked to the guy I deal with for parts that runs his own performance shop about carbs. The cost up here is the same for Holley and Demon. He said the motors he would usually put 850 holleys on the 850 Demon was too big. The Holley is definatly the easiest to tune. The Demon is tricky and comes with a big book and a video. It has 4 corner idle adjustment so you can get better idle with bigger cams. The holley 750 vac secondary would work well with your combo. You only need the 850 if your going to turn over 6000 rpm. The best intake for the 440 is the performer rpm hands down. My friend had to put a big carb spacer on it to cut down on torque and he had the .509 cam in his 440. The drawback is hood clearance cause its high.

Cool

I dropped at least 2 tenths by switching from a lolley 3310(750 vac. sec.) to a speed demon 750 double pumper on my 11 sec. 340. The car is very consistent now also. The speed demon likes 6 lbs. fuel pressure at idle.

Don't buy the Holley, I tried to get one from Summit(Jegs doesn't have them) and it would cost me $600 by the time I got the carb and everything else I would need. So I bought a Demon(Actually, was shopping for uncle). That was last night. Personally, I don't think your motor needs much more carb than stock. I would go a 3310 Holley or maybe even Ebrock remanned or new. Intake, not much beats a Perfromer RPM! Don't forget a good air cleaner, remember to check for hood clearance

I run a 850 demon dp and performer rpm intake on my 67 440 charger. The demon was a good deal same price as holley looks better came with nicer features and is more tuneable. I'm also pleased with the performer rpm. Have you thought about more cam, a 284 would do good work in your motor.
