Are the B&M shift kits anygood??? Is there another company thats better?
I want a little more performance out of my 72 small block duster. Right now it has a 904 in it but the shifts arnent quite firm enough. thanks for the reply, ive been away from the board and reality for quite some time and now ready to rejoin both!! ;-) BBD |

Yep, they are pretty good. So are most of the others.
Personally, I use Turbo-Action because they were my first aftermarket transmission Hop-Up parts provider. I have had no problems with them. Around this area, B&M, Trans-Go, and TCI are all popular with the street/strip guys. Billy |

Ramtacular i read your install and it looks fairly involved however i think i can handle it, the tranny is out of the car so that should make it easier. I ordered the Transgo kit so i should be getting started next weekend. I will let you know how it goes!

Transgo
Big Block,
Good luck on the kit install. Believe me when I say that the install looks much easier after watching the video. |

There's a really good article in Feb 2001 Mopar Action (pp. 70-76) describing most of the shift kits available out there, what they do to your tranny, what mods are necessary, what parts they contain, and what performance upgrade you can expect from each. It would be a perfect read before you buy your kit if you can get your hands on it.

Trans-go worked great for me. Some of the work that you have to perform on the valvebody improves longevity as well. Shifts are nice and quick on the medium setting.

I fifnished installing all the parts fron that TransGo shift kit i picked up. The install went fairly well, except for the rear servo spring and spacer, but i was able to get in in after some grinding!!
The video that comes with the kit is funny because the background music is something taken from a 70's sleezy porn film The only thing left to do is try figure out how to adjust the throttle pressure setting, the line pressure was easy but the throttle pressure according to the factory manual requires some special tool and i havnt been able to find any one who knows a way around it so.......if any one can help that would be great!! thanks BBD |

shift kit
Hi,
I use the fairbanks kit, it work very well with my 904.. I also tried the transgo kit, (I won`t do that again) The trans kept locking up between 1st and 2nd to the point that the tires would leave black marks on the street. Joe |

i put the b&m street shift kit 2 years ago and it was very easy the directions they provide are good just watch out for the check balls when you turn over the valve body , they will fall out and roll away. now the car churps the tires on the 1 st shift even when going slow .
so id recommend one it was about 26.00 from summit or jegs. |
