Here's a poll to find out what kinds of Mopar engines we run the most of. The "other" category is meant to include any and all FWD engines. 2.0, 2.2, 2.7, 3.2, 3.5, etc. I didn't include a 426 category because there aren't likely to be many of those doing daily driver duty.

Exclamation What No 4.7s?

You better add the new 4.7L engine to your list. There will be more and more of them coming into the world every day.

I have a 4.7L, 287 cubed, overhead cammed engine in my '00 Dakota Sport for my daily driver.

Well, here in Maryland, where the salt drifts after a light snow, I don't drive Mopars through the winter, not even awful K-cars. So, technically, my daily driver wasn't on the list (307 Olds). Don't worry, slant sixes will stomp this Olds. but it was free, and will not die -- 510,000 miles on original motor and still running! But during the summer, the 440 is my driver, as long as the gas money holds out!

Ben 440 Brown

1962 New Yorker 9-pass wagon (413 Wedge)
1971 Plymouth Satellite wagon (440 Wedge)
1981 Olds Delta 88 (307 snail)
1993 Escort wagon (1.9 liter milage king)

1990 Buick 3800 V6 in search of a car
1974 Olds 455 in search of a car

Actually, right now I have four legally licensed vehicles:
1972 Swinger, 318 auto
1986 B150 Van, 318 auto
1992 Crown Victoria, 4.6L auto
1994 Ford Club Wagon E150, 5.8L auto

I also have a company vehicle. It is a
1998 Chevy Suburban 5.7L auto

My wife drives the 94, My daughter the 92. My son drives the 86, and I drive the 72, most of the time, but the Suburban,we call it the 'Burb' is what I drive every day. It's my work vehicle.

Note: ALL our vehicles are V8, rear drive. Just like god planned it.

I also have a host of other MoPars that are running, but not licensed.

People think I'm a puss for putting a 318 in a van. But when it's tricked out it's gonna kick ass. Besides anything larger would put me at risk of killing myself.

Daily Driver would be either the 3.5L Chrysler Concord, or the 318 in the RamCharger.

Dan, I thought the LS1 was 347CID? or something a bit less than 350. Anyhow, it seems to be a decent engine with crappy pushrods, backed by a marginal clutch/transmission/rear axle.
It's probbly still the best performance per dollar new car, but don't ask about insurance costs

Too bad Chrysler can't built a V-8, rear wheel drive sports car for under $30K
What do we get... The PT Crusier? Cute, underpowered, and overpriced. Not to mention a 4-banger, front wheel drive?
