5 psi ought to be fine, I wouldn't go over 6.

depends on the carb~~~
I know Edelbrock Performers mandate no more than 5.5 psi. I run a Carter electric fuel pump and it is dead on 5 psi all the time.

fuel pressure
As the good Dr. said, it does depend on the carb. Holleys like a little more than the others, about 6-6.5 for 750 cfm or smaller, as much as 8.5 for 850's and bigger. Trial and error with a good ajustable regulator and gauge will tell the final tale............djs

FUEL PUMP PRESSURE
LOOK FOR RESTICTIONS FIRST,SUCH AS FITTINGS THAT YOU CAN DRILL OUT LARGER,THEN IF NOT MUCH IS FOUND(CHECK THE FILTERS) THEN GO AS HIGH AS 6.5-7 WITH A REGULATOR ,BUT YOU DO NEED A GO NEEDLE AND SEAT.EVEN THAT SHOULD NOT BE OVERLOOKED FOR FUEL FLOW ISSUES.A GOOD 340 WILL EASILY TAKE 6-7 PSI.
