As far as I know, you can now get them! I watch many performance shows and HotRod was just talking about these new heads and that these were available.

I know Edelbrock shipped 6 sets to Jeg's 2 weeks ago (they're gone now), and they shipped one more set to Jeg's last week. I hear the rumor that Edelbrock will ship 100 sets per week, but it doesn't look like it so far. Don't put too much stock on that 23rd date, either.

The Edelbrock rep at The Goodguys in Pleasenton this weekend said they are shipping now but did not even have one for display yet the sb heads looked rough in some areas,i hope they clean'em up a bit before they ship them out to customers.

I was not happy with my small block heads. Going to send them out to be cleaned up.

I can confirm that rumor. In fact, I just received a set of the BB Edelbrocks yesterday. Click the link below, I have pix there.

WHAT ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO USE FOR HEADERS WITH THE ELDEBROCK HEADS. BECAUSE THEY ARE ANGLE PLUG. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT HOOKER SUPER COMP 1 7/8, OR 2IN. WONT FIT, #3&4 PLUGS GO RIGHT INTO THE TUBES, BUT THE CHEAP SMALL TUBE 1 3/4 WILL FIT, BUT THAT CAN'T BE GREAT FOR PERFORMANCE WHEN YOUR MAKING 500+ HORSEPOWER. JUST WONDERING SOMEONE HAS COME UP WITH A SOLUTION, OR IF NOBODY HAS THOUGHT ABOUT IT.

I am interested to know also. I plan to run a set in a 400 A-body. Do the fenderwell headers work with Indy angle plugs?

Thanks for the compliments, guys! I really appreciate it!

The engine isn't truly done yet, I still need to buy some items like head and intake gaskets, new valvesprings and retainers. Also, I need to take the heads apart and send them out to get shaved .050. Then, I need to figure out how long the pushrods will need to be. Finally, clay the pistons to make sure those valve reliefs in the Ross pistons are deep enough. They better be!!!

Meanwhile, with all that, I have to prep, prime and paint my Duster! I gotta get busy!

One thing I learned about these heads is, the exhaust gasket surface is moved outward 1/8". Edelbrock did this to make the bolt holes blind (no more leaks!). But, this will push the headers out the same amount. Whether that creates a problem with some engine/chassis combinations remains to be seen.

I will be using Pro Parts/McCandless/Mazzolini semi-fenderwell headers for my 440 Duster. I have examined these headers on a 440 Scamp that had straight sparkplugs, and I am confident that the angle plugs will cause no problems, and may even help in certain areas.

I know for sure that the Hooker Super Comps 1 7/8 will work with the Indy SR heads, also angle plug, I would think they would also work with Eldebrocks.

JANDJ,

Are those heads in your picture angle plug though? They look like a straight plug.

Thumbs up Edlebrock Heads

Dave are you going to get those heads flowed to see how close Edlebrock's figures are to reality?
Good looking motor! Congrats on an understanding wife!
I said something to the war department (my wife), and she said" $1200.00 for cylinder heads why?

Anyway good luck with the motor.
Dave

Smile lets talk dollars

Just curious Duster Dave, how much money are you going to have in those heads by the time you are done, machine work, porting etc... What kind of ET are you hoping to achieve?

The extra expenses involved with my heads are:

1. milling off .050 from deck surface, $75

2. milling intake side of heads to compensate, $75

3. Hughes valvesprings, $120

4. Chromemoly retainers, $60

5. Assembly and disassembly, about $75?

Total: around $415.00

No porting, just port matching.

On paper, I should be in the 10's. We'll see!

Default Chamber Volume reduction

Edelbrock says 1cc for every .006 removal.
