Well my balancer keeps taking out the front seal and making a leaky mess on my 440. Going off from memory it seamed that their was a sheet metal sleave that slipped over the balancer shaft. The seal then road on this sleeve, well the sleave looking deal was pretty distorted looking and I think is the problem. So the question is, is what I saw right? And can you replace this with out getting a new balancer? I looking in the MP book and see no such thing.

I recently read an article about resleeving kits for damper shafts in one of the car magazines. I can't remember who makes them, but it seems to me it was something you could pick up at an auto supply store. The article included a step by step "how to" installation series - dam - I'm getting old cuz i cannot remember which mag it was...anyone else see this?

Yes it was in an old Mopar Muscle. I wanna say within the last two years. I don't have too many 2000 issues, but I do have quite a bit of 1999 articles. You are correct, it was a pressed in sleeve that was installed. I'll check at home tonight.

Thanks for your help on this, anything you can find would be great. I really want to buy a fluid damper, but I already have to buy a new fuel system before the end of April, and like alway cash is short in supply.

They are commonly referred to as a "speedy sleeve", you should be able to get one from a good auto parts store.

Just went through and actually red that and the way it sounds their is no sleeve on the factory unit? The reason I ask is because I am almost positve that mine has a sleeve on it. And if it does I would think it would take a slightly different size seal? I have been using a stock replacement seal, maybe the fit is a bit tight.
