I built a 340 for a customer about 2 years ago using this cam(284/484) and it worked great. He put it in a 69 Dart with 4.10's and a 2400 stall converter. It was running 12.35.As a side note, the old 383 in my Demon had the same cam and ran 11.60's

My buddy had the .484 in his 383 Coronet. It ran 12.4's
with 4.10's. Not bad for a heavy car. I think it would work well in your 340. The thing keeping me from trying a Hughes cam is the price. I'm looking at double the price of a Mopar cam by the time I get it shipped and pay tax at the border and exchange rate. Ouch!

I run one in a 2900 lb. A body. It pulls hard after 3000, get 3,91's, a loose convertor or stick, and some fat tires, your gonna need the rubber on the street because it gets squirrely! No idea on the other grinds. No time slips... yet.

Thumbs up

I run the 484 in my 383 Dart with 3000 convertor and 3.91,s and ran 12.40,s at 110 mph and I used the 474-280 in a 340 Dart with 4.10,s and ran 13.40,s at 105 mph on the street tires and thru the mufflers! I like the 484 cam alot but like was said use some convertor and 3.91,s or better! Ron

Hey all thanks for the input. I have thought it over, and over, and over, and then once more just to be sure, but i decided on the 284 484...I have about a 2600 stall, and 3.55s. I know u all said 3.91s, but i need some cruisin to....but i have short fat mickey ts, that r only 25 inchs high so I should be alright, besides when i want the best speed for the track. ill have 28 inch slicks, and probably about 4.56 gears, so thanks again.
and keep it mopar
