I was going through some websites when I came across a list of muscle cars and newer demositc cars 1/4 mile times. The list was of non-modified factory cars, a lot of which I had never heard of. One being a 1990 (I think) Pontiac Trans-Am with a twin-turbo charged 350. It made close to 700 horses. As I went up I saw a 1964 Dodge 426 Hemi with 425 hp that had a faster 1/4 mile time than the Pontiac, how is that possible?

The Firebird is actually a SLP Firehawk. It was previous to the production runs ('91 or '92) and is just a one off machine...it doesn't really belong on a list of factory stockers. The Hemi times are also a bit skewed, they usually use NHRA times for the race hemis (and Thunderbolt for that matter), so the time listed was probably the record holder in the stock class (SS/A, Stock Eliminator or whatever it was back then) for that year. Also skews the results (joe blow ain't gonna run those times off the showroom floor).
