I'm trying to bring my car to the track to see what it does. Its a .030 440, 452's with big stainless valves, torker intake, 750 vac Holley, .509 cam,1.6 rockers, 3000 converter, 4.30 gear, 28" tall slicks, open 1 7/8 headers. MSD 6AL ignition, champion RN12YC plugs or something like that.
Its in my 77 Volare RR. The car is not finished but I need some motivation so I'm going racing. It actually only needs paint so its good enough. This is my first 440 so I don't even have a clue where to start with the jetting.
I think I have 74's front and 80 rear right now. My 400 liked 75 front and 81 rear. Its cold so I'm hoping to have it real close.
Thanks

Default jets

start with 82 & 84, work from there. yuor headers are a bit small, so is the carb. 850 would be better. Anyway, have a good time at the track.......djs

I'D SUGGEST THE FOLLOWING BASED ON A 2000 ASL ALTTIDUE,FOR EACH 1000 FT LESS GO 2TH JET BIGGER BUT USE THE HOLLEY CAT.,SO YOU KNOW WERE YOUR GOING WITH JET SIZES.IE SOME JETS DO NOT CHANGE ORIFICE SIZE OR CHANGE MORE THAN 1 SIZE. FRONT,STOCK 72=.079 ORIFICE GO TO 74=.081 CHANGE PUMP SHOOTER FROM STOCK .025 TO A .031 WITH TUBES.INDEX NEEDLE SEAT OPENINGS TO FLOW INLINE WITH FLOAT BOWL DELIVERY OPENINGS F/R USING THE STOCK SEATS.110 TH.

BACK VACCUM POT SPRING USE THE SHORT/LONG GOLD LIGHT SPRING,REMOVE THE SILVER CHECK BALL.BACK FUEL METERING PLATE IS =TO 74 JET=.081 ORIFICE., SUGGEST NEW PLATE 134-45 OR 134-50 OR 134-26/27 ALL =79 JET ORIFICE SIZE .091

CHANGE FACTORY POWER VALVE IN FRONT TO 125-185 HIGH FLOW 8.5" NO PV USED IN REAR DUE TO PLATE.
IF YOU HAVE OLDER 3310 WITH METERING BLOCK YOULL ONLY NEED JETS.THIS SET UP IS BASED ON MY 440 WITH AN 830 CARB AND 4:30 GEARS ETC.MY JETTING IS SLIGHTLY RICHER BUT AT THE TRACK TRY THIS SETUP TIMING FOR BEST MPH THEN TUNE JET UP 1 SIZE AND WATCH MPH LOSS/GAIN

Thumbs up

Glen I just ran my car for the first time last week and its a 383 that is close to your 440 setup! It has 452 heads , stock 9.5 pistons , 484 cam , torker intake , 750 DP , 3000 con & manual valve body and 3.91,s . I used a 6.5 power valve and 72,s in the primarys and 78,s in the secondarys and I ran 12.49 at 110 mph ! I liked that jetting because the car runs clean on the street and dont foul plugs and it pulled very good for a mild 383 !

I know the carb is a little small but its all I have and $850 for a new carb is not in the budget just yet cause it'll be a daily driver. I don't think the headers are too small. 1 7/8 is pretty big and they are a real tight fit in an F-body. The carb is a 3310 with a metering block in the back. I have a 4.5 power valve and complete set of jets from 64-99. I think it either has the .31 or .35 shooter and the big accellerater pump. And its fully machined on top and smoothened so it could possibly flow 800cfm. It looks like the weather will be crappy on the weekend so I might get delayed as I need 2 good days of work to get it ready.
Thanks
