I recently replaced the original Stromberg 2bbl on my 67 383 with an identical remanufactured carb. At the same time, I upgraded to a Mopar electronic ignition and gave the car a good tune-up. Now, when I am driving at 35-40 mph, there is a very distinctive power surge in the motor. It feels like a clogged fuel filter, but that is also new along with an electric fuel pump. At highway speeds and under hard acceleration, the car runs great. It's just when speeds slow down and the car is under a steady throttle, it feels like fuel starvation. It never did this before. We had a little trouble getting the car timed right. Could this be a factor ? Thanks for any advice.

I would guess, maybe your vacuum advance is not working correctly. Does the carb. supply vacuum at open or closed throttle. I used to time the engine with the vacuum off.
