i found a super flow cat in the J/C whitney catalog that has a flow rate of 400 cells PSI. is this good? You can get a single in single out, double in singel out, or a double in and out versions. Would having 2 cats be better performance over a double in and double out?? THANKS!! oh, the prices are only $89 for the singles and $115 for the doubles. the cats are made 409 stainless.

I have not looked into getting cats yet.
My bet would be the single in and out would be best cause its hard to run duals down the same side. If I put a v8 in my truck I'll have to get some.

Just the fact that the Cat is being sold for the price that JC is askin' scares the hell out of me. Always remember that you get what you pay for!

It's not a Catco is it? I bought one from Whitney and it was junk. The thing was so cheap that I never even put it on. I went with a Dynomax unit from Jegs instead $120.

Question

I need to clean up the exhaust emissions on my dail driven '85 Diplomat with a mild 360, and was thinking of adding two high flow cats. At like $175 each, are they going to help me pass the state emissions test (tailpipe at idle), or is it going to be a waste of money? Anything else I could do to "clean up" the exhaust (change timing, carb mixture etc..)?

Thumbs down

Well there is many options to pass the smog test! You could advance the timing to run cleaner! Depends where you live! But here in pa we have a dyno-test too to test running HC,NO,etc etc! if it fails see what fails and then write back! If its close on anything i'd CHANGE THE OIL!(YES BELIEVE ME IT WORKS) and even give it a tune-up! There just some basic!

Wink

I went with MAGNAFLOW performance cat and exhaust - one of my best performance mods was adding the free flowing cat.

All aluminized with no seams on the outside. All stainless steel on the inside.

I say GO FOR IT
