I have a 1998 dodge ram with 4 speed automatic. I do not like how it lugs my engine when the torqur converter lockes up. Does anyone know if this can be done and how.

There is a set of instruction for the 47RH Dodge automatic at this webpage:
http://www.tstproducts.com/tranny_install.html The 46RH auto should be similar, but I am not 100% certain. |

Be carefull on the advice. Your 98 has a 46RE not an RH. The RE has electronically controlled governor also. Disabling lock up will result in less mileage and higher transmission temps, espesially when pulling. I know what you mean about the "lugging", but the best way out of it is a gear change, or simply turning off the OD until you are on a more level surface.
