i got the engine to crank, it wants to start but it still needs adjustments, but my positive wire gets warm, and the negitive gets hot. its a small battery, and there is no altinator, when it runs out i charge it with a charger. any suggestions why they get hot

Joe,
If you are just cranking the engine the battery cables will get hot. Heat is a byproduct of the electrons moving through the conductors to provide the electrical energy to operate the starter. The best thing to do is not to just crank it for long periods of time crank for a little while making adjustments to try to get it to start then give it a 5-10 minute break. Your battery and starter will thank you for it. What fixed the spark anyway? Leave the rotor out? i bought a bigger battery and the wires stopped gettin hot, with the spark i adjusted the gap on the distributer
