i have a 71 340 air cleaner base( unsilenced type), it just has the oval holes. I do not have a cover so i was going to use a cover from a 73 340( orange one). when i went to bolt it together, the lid would not seal to the base piece. i discovered that the air deflector shields that are a part of the base are higher then the rim . i had to bend the shields outward toward the air intakes to get the cover to fit. That doesn't look right!
QUESTION Is the lid of a 71 340 unsilenced type different than the orange one on a 73 340 which has the snorkel type/???????
