I've ran Spectre 3/8 braided fuel line with hose clamps from my tranny to the tranny cooler and back to the tranny (727) for 3 years now and someone recently told me thats a dangerous way to do it. Has anyone seen any problems doing it this way? I keep it 10 inches away from heat and moving parts, I'm just not sure how much line pressure there is. I was even told it makes for dangerous fuel line, my fuel system is also plumbed with it.

Well Scamp, I ran flexible tranny lines for 4 years over and more than 120 passes without incident. However, I was using high pressure tranny line NOT braided steel fuel line.
If it were me, I would replace the braided steel fuel line being used for your tranny & be thankful you had no problems. It's just not meant to withstand the pressure. Imagine how exciting the ride would be if one of those lines gave out on the track! FYI, have have switched back to steel tranny lines. Just to be sure. |
