Post Timing

First, are you using vacuum advance distributor? If so, you'll
have to disconnect the vacuum advance. Then you'll need to
know how much advance you actually have in the distributor.
This should vary from 18-24 crank deg. This is called
centrifugal advance. Take this amount of advance and add
initial advance, which is what you put in by rotating the
distributor(counterclockwise), and you get your total advance,
which is what
the motor actually sees. Make sure yor engine rpm is above
the rpm where your timing is all in. Usually 2500 or so. Make
sure that when the engine is revved that the timing doesn't
go past your total setting. Set the total at 35-36 deg.
Ex: 24 deg. centrifugal adv. + 12 deg. initial adv.=36 deg.
total advance. Hope this helps.
