Question

howmuch duration and lift can i run on a cam before i have to drop a new intake and other components to flow more air to support it?

i have a 97 5.9 liter engine with a stock cam and a stock intake and throttle body.
it is a 97 ram ss/t

You should ask this in the Mopar truck chat room, but I can tell you that the stock intake manifold is already the major restriction and you won't see much improvement by just going to a bigger cam, the stock intake will run out of breath at about 4500 RPM, get yourself a K&N Gen II filtercharger cold air intake and that will get you 15 to 20 more horsepower.
