Cool

I wrote an article concerning the whole "Which is best?" question on the topic of air systems following the destruction of my Dakota's K&N filter. I am not sure if it answers questions or creates them. Maybe both. Please have a read and feel free to comment either here or by emailing me direct at kirk@flipchip.net
Enjoy!

There are two K&N FIPK systems. The FIPK and the FIPK Gen 2. The FIPK is a 14X3 open element system. It allows much more air to flow into the TB, than the stock design allows (even with the K&N drop in).

The FIPK Gen 2 is the one with the long smooth tube and the filter on the end of it. It allows about the same air flow to the TB as the FIPK, but that air is cooler than what is found under the hood. The cooler air is more dense and provides a little bit more power.

So in basic terms, the K&N drop in is Good, the FIPK is better and the FIPK Gen 2 is Best.
