Well i finally got around to pulling the pump out of the Dart! After i pulled it out i checked the pick-up tube and it was almost completely clogged with gaskets, material, ect! After that i took the plate off the bottom of the pump and saw that the gear and where the gear rides at was scrached, scored , and pittted! Would both of these things have anything to do with Bad and or Low oil pressure!

P.S-this post is for my dart, not my Powerwagon which also has low pressure, does everything i have always have low pressure@!!

Time to pull the motor. I would use a new pick up tube also.

Why pull the motor? BECAUSE the bearings and rings have all suffered from oil starvation! Not to mention all the other moving parts. Pull a main cap off and look. Then pull off 1 or 2 rod caps and look closely! You should be able to see where trash has traveled through the bearings. If this is true then this should end the questions about rebuilding the motor or just replacing the pump and pickup.

Let's see, first post "pick up tube was almost completely clogged". Now it's "some old gasket material". If it's a street motor go ahead and "try" a new oil pump. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't. If you do go this route I still say get a new pick up tube unless you had the patients to pry up the crimp, remove the cover and screen and clean it thouroghly. The right way is to take it apart and check it over, or at least pop some caps and inspect bearings as recommended by Nightri1.
