Okay i ahve a gas guage problem, it doesnt read right, but it works, say the car is full, i go for a small ride, the guage doesnt go down, i resart the car later on and go for another ride, it starts out 1/4 empty and then i drive, it speedily goes to empty, I fill the car up to full yet it only allows maybe 7 gal max, and the car really isnt empty. I start car it reads full and i go home, next day i start car its 1/2 empty. I replaced the sending unit, is it the guage? Do i need new instrument panel? Whats wrong?

Check/change the voltage limiter or check the grounding strap on the float.

In Mopar Action, I think, they had an article on installing a solid state 5 volt regulator. Lot better than the mechanical one you have now. Also pull the sendind unit out and check the float with an ohmmetter or DVM. As you move the float the resistance on the meter should change smoothly and steadily. If so it is probably the gauge or volt reg. I can't remember the mag. Maybe someone here saw the article I'm talking about. Also if need be, you ca n change just the fuel gauge. No need to do the whole gauge panel.
