I have just purchased a 1966 Dart GT with the 273 V8, I understand that this a LA series engine. I have a 600cfm carb and am looking for a good used intake, problem is i don't know exactly what will swap. I found a SP2P for a 318 will that bolt up?
Thanks

66 & up 273 are the same as any 318-340 manifold. Only the 1964 & 1965 273 motors used a special manifold due to intake bolt angle location.

I've got a 273 intake off of a 67 dart gt. It is a low rise single plane intake with narrow runners. Im pretty shure that the 340's came with dule plane intakes with larger runners. From what I understand, an eldbrock LD4B is a performance intake (high rise dule plane)that is made for 273 318 heads. I've got one and its pretty tall. However, eledbrock doesent make them any more.

Any intakes for sale? I have heard that the LD4B is a good intake for that little motor. I am afraid that a 340 intake will have to much of a step in the intake port to be efficiant. Anyone heard about the SP2P intake from Edelbrock?
thanks

I've heard thet the Edelbrock Performer works very well with the smaller ports of the 273/318 heads. The SP2P is more of an economy manifold than a performance manifold. There is the Streetmaster, but I haven't heard much about them. I used a factory iron manifold on my 318 and haven't noticed any problems. cruzerjd

I raced a stock 318 with a "STREET MASTER 318" well suited to stock ports ( no mods).
Carb was an 1850/600 this combo revved to 5500rpm all day ,no problem. I am using it on another 318 (stock)now. I do know of another one!One problem though, I live in NEW ZEALAND

The LD4B is a great med. rise manifold for the 273/318. It is the manifold the LD340 was modeled after, and that manifold rocks! The SP2P is a great torque manifold due to the long skinny runners. The Performer is very similiar to the LD4B but is a little lower in height. The stock 273 4V open plenum nmanifold is a nice little piece for a revving motor. It is a 360 degree model. The only Edelbrock STREET manifolds that are 340/360 specific are the LD340 and the Performer RPM.

I am using an edelbrock carb I got for free and its brand new, traded a 750cfm for the 600. I have had no luck finding a stock cast iron unit, the SP2P seems to be quite common, the LD4B not so common. I will take any dual plane intake I find at this point just to get the car on the road, its my wifes car and she is driving me nuts. Thank for all the info, it will help in deciding what to get.

Check out Offenhauser for a manifold. I just bought one for my 360. The one I got is for a 318 it is a dual port. It has small, separate runners for the primaries and bigger ones for the secondaries. It was expensive Summit Racing didn't list it I remembered reading about them years ago. I had to call Offy and get the part # myself. ^The guy at the local speed shop told me the Sp2P burned up motors.... what ever thatis supposed to mean.
