hi i have a 1963 chrysler newport that i will soon be dropping in a 440 into. I was wondering wich trans i should use. THe 440 will have about 550 horsepower. I am looking for an my car is an automatic push drive. I was also wondering what rear end and gear ratio should i put in my car. MY car weights about 3,800 pounds i will be using a high stall torque converter and will mainly be using this car as a secondary car for just crusing and taking it to the strip. Fuel economy is not a problem, and the faster the better just as long as i can handle it on the street. Thanks

When you say you want your car to be "faster" are you looking for quicker acceleration or a higher cruising/top end speed? Do you do much fwy driving? How high is your stall? Going on the info you gave, If you are looking for versatility I would go with a 3;55 rear end. If you do any kind of fwy driving I wouldn't go any lower than a 3.91.

Go with a TCI "Street Fighter" or equivalent from Cheetah or B&M. They have excellent shifts while retaining full automatic capabilities. The bigblock uses a 727, in case you didn't know that.
