Thumbs up

You might consider some Auto Meter gauges. I just started putting a set into my 77 Dodge van and they are awesome. Easy to set up (hooked up the tach in 10 minutes, start to finish). Available through Summit and at most speed shops. AND cheaper than MP gauges by 10-25%. They have liquid filled gauges available, too (and the new carbon fiber gauges they just came out with look killer). I have 3 electrical and 2 mechanical( bought the Ultra-Lite 2 5/8" set). The mechanicals require a bit more plumbing and are a little more difficult to install, but in some cases, that is your only option. As for reliability, no one has ever complained that I know of about either type. Personally, if I had it to do over again, I would by electrical gauges whenever possible, easier to integrate into the whole scheme of things. Good luck.

In a street only application, electronic guages are quite adequate. I prefer mechanical guages in race applications because they don't require power. Its up to your own preference on this one. I am more concerned with the sweep of the guage and the relative accuracy that sweep gives. Use guages with 270° of sweep to increase the accuracy of the reading

I believe the MP guages are made by autometer but they dont sell a Speedo guage and wont as far as i know. But you should be able to find a matching (minus MP logo) Speedo from Autometer

If I am wrong someone please state so.

I have 71 challenger...I'm getting ready to order a autometer speedo for it but I noticed the stock speedo cable has a push on connector at the guage. Is that what the autometer speedo uses? Or do I need an adapter of some kind?

I just bought Autometer Ultra-lites and went electric gauges. Easier to hide the wire, less clutter and mess, and I really don't look at my gauges anyways, to be honest. I got an electric fuel PRESSURE gauge which looks really trick. Hope it works as claimed!
$1700 Canadian. Boy, was THAT cheap.

In the old days we worried about the response time of some electric gauges, especially the oil pressure. Has this been fixed now?
I have an Autometer mechanical oil pressure and the factory electric oil pressure which is definitely too slow in response. The times of concern are right at launch (high acceleration and oil pump pickup uncovering) or high G turns. Less than a second of air shows up on the mechanical.
