Hi,
I have a Edelbrock Performer 440 series intake on my 440. I am looking at getting a better one with a few things in mind...I need lots of low end torque and same with mid range. Since most of my racing is at the stop light, there is no need for top end. I have a 4000 lbs. mopar, with a 509 cam, 3000 stall, 10:1, head work will be done at time of intake replacement, 850 Holley. Any suggestions would be great. Oh, I shift around 5000-5500 rpm.

Everyone I know with the Edelbrock rpm dual plane likes 'em.Since you want bottom end torque and max 5500 rpm,Whats wrong with what you have now?

I think you could have better results with changing in to a smaller cam, like the MP 280. I hope you have headers and good exhaust in that thing, and the 393 cam likes over 3000 rpmstall no matter what the intake is. 5000-5500 shift points sound a little low for the 292 cam. The RPM intake is pretty popular, and another good one is the M1 single plane. I have used both, and like the M1 single plane more. Don't be afraid of the single plane design, it's got a pretty brod working area.

Another excellent intake is the Holley Street Dominator, a moderate rise single plane type. It's been around for a while, I used one twenty years ago on a 440 in my 67 GTX. And don't let the Holley website fool you, they say to 4800 rpm. Years ago they said to 5500 rpm. It will pull to 6000 rpm or a little more with no problem.

run the performer RPM intake on my 440 challenger(hughes 3038 cam,headers, 2600
stall, ect) i love it plenty of stoplight
grunt as well as top end, run the performer
on my "68 440 charger, equal low end but lacks up high, heard good things about the M-1(single plane) as well, plenty of options
out there good luck!
later christian.
