Default plugs

do you have a choke on you car if you do they will foul them up very quickly if you dont let it run long enoughf for the choke to come off and also if you carb. is jeted up to much or it is to ''fat'' than you could bring the sizes down a little if you could e mail me and give your jet sizes i could help you out a bunch

Edlebrock 750 no power valve and MP electronic kit with orange box. Maybe I should try those NGK plugs?

Try side-gapping the spark plugs. Sounds like your heat range is to cold. Black of course equals real rich or bad ign. Plug wires ect.,ect.

Biggrin Same combo on my 383......had same problem

Had some problem on my 383 with the Edelbrock Performer #1407 carb and the orange box 'conversion' ignition system. In my case it the carb was just jetted too fat for my engine. Further investigation reveiled that the #1407 was intended for engines over 400 cubes. I bought the 'strip kit' for that carb and went to the next smaller size jet. Problem went and the car run much better.
I wouldn't suggest a jet change on yours because it would probably lean it out too much. A rod change is probably in order and maybe a step up spring. Its all in the kit.
Summit has the strip kit; it is about $50 bux.

almost for sure what everyone else has said is right-too much fuel! but don't forget the obvious, such as air restriction (plugged air filter) or weak (low secondary voltage) ignition. run a high output coil like Jacobs Ultra coil, and be sure the ballast resistor isn't reducing primary voltage to the coil too much.......djs P.S. the last plug I'd use is NGK. the electrodes are very hard for long life but in high output/rich running/high compression engines they tend too miss under high load and will foul before the "softer" electrode plugs like Champion or Accel
