Hello all!
Im planning on putting some 6 cylinder sized (.840) torsion bars on my drag car. If I found a used pair does it matter which side that they will be installed on. I mean should they have been marked right or left and front or back when they were taken out so that they could be put back in the same location. Also is it possible to take mine out which are the .920 and have them machined down to .840. I have a friend that owns a machine shop. Thanks for any advice |

Dont quote me on this, but I think there is a mark at the end that will tell you which side is which.
As for the machining, I would not try it. As old as they could be, the machining process could add stress to the bars in a direction other than designed. If you think about the problems you could have if a torsion bar snaps on a good launch, the small expense for some yard bars, or even new ones seems a much safer bet. |

Ok We can all disregard this topic. I ordered a set of drag racing bars today for my Challenger. Just the thought of launching my 10.80 car and breaking a old torsion bar might not be a good scene.
