How do I adjust the looseness out of my power steering? I have a 69 Satellite, 318, PS.
I had the front end checked out, they said it was in good shape except for the ball joints which will be replaced soon. The box has a lot of play in it. I see a threaded bolt and a nut in the steering box. It looks like an adjuster. Can I adjust out some of the play in the box with this? I just bought the car, I love it! Using it a daily driver. thanks! |

sat69. yeah you can adjust that box. Loosen up the jam nut, turn the screw in until the play is gone, then retighten the nut.

Another thing if I remeber correctly is that the front wheels have to be off the ground when checking the free play. I read it in the service manual for my 77 Newport. Have the car up in the air and check the freeplay as you tighten the adjuster.
