I need some advice on what to do with my tired, old 360 in my '78 Warlock truck. It's shot, and I can either rebuild, or buy new (as in Mopar crate 360). I'm leaning towards the crate motor. I've seenm 300 h.p. and 360 h.p. versions listed. Does anyone know anything about these motors? The 360 sounds like it could be fun....but how driveable is it? I just want something to motor around the back country with. Maybe the 300 horse version would make more sense ?? Any tips on these crate motors would be greatly appreciated.

Have read alot of bad things about mp crate motors. If you buy one plan on tearing it down and checking EVERYTHING.

If your warlock is original be sure and keep the motor that comes out of it. Warlock with crate motor would just be another pick-up, but it would be fun to drive.

I have a 79 Lil Red Express with 80k miles on it and it is tired. Will rebuild it some day.

Thumbs up

Hey. I just thought I would let you some stuff. You have a great truck. I went to the nats, and I did not see one warlock. Lots of little reds. I would go with a rebuild. You can put the same stuff in it that the crate motor has, Plus you will know that the parts you use are in good shape. Lots of luck, and I hope you are going down the back roads soon.

For the cost of a crate engine, you could do a nice rebuild of the original engine. I would keep and rebuild the original.
