Thumbs up

Hi guys, was looking at 97 dodge 1 ton dually yesterday and it has cummins turbo diesel with the 12 valve engine. What is the difference in performance, fuel ecomomy, and mostly reliability between these two. This truck would be used for work every day and ocasionally for towing. Thanks Tim

Cool

Both engines are a fine choice,12 or 24 valve,,Now the 97 you looked at is a 12 valve,,Some will say the newer engine is easier to tune up(add power to it)because its an electronic injected motor,,However the 12 valve is just as easy and a whole lot cheaper to turn up,,Now in one of your other posts you ask about price,,We just sold 2 3500 series 4x4 diesels out of our shop in recent weeks,a 2000 Dark Garnet Red Quad 5 spd for $32,000,,It was a loaded truck except leather and had 24,000 miles on it,,The other one was a 2001 Quad Cab Patriot Blue, leather power heated both sides, all the trimmings(completely loaded),with 10,000 miles for $35,500,,A dually reg cab as you are looking at I would not sell cause they just do not move in my area, seems all want quads or ext cabs,,Price depends on the milage and condition of truck also,,I'll make a call today and see if I can get you a ball park idea of what they have been bringing at Manhiem,,Let me know milage and condition and I'll see if I can help
