I have a 71 charger, and just wanted to know the speaker size for the one dash speaker. The audio guy told me it was a 4x10. Thing is a pair was 100 bucks, and I could not buy just one. So what size and what is the cheapest way to get a front speaker going in the charger. I just put a nice detachable face under the dash. Left the stock AM. Does not look and sound so bad. Just want the front speaker. Thanks

Default speaker size

here goes
sorry to say but if you have a new head unit it'll kill yer origional in no time that speaker is used to roughly 6 watts and yer new deck is probably good for 30 to 45 for each speaker + yer origional is really old(age deteriorates speakers) buy 6X9's and use a piece of bracketry from a hardware store. the piece i'm talkin about usually is an L support bracket for decking it'll bend well and have pre drilled holes in it
Its a little hard to bend but thats good use it to hold the speaker from the origional mount holes but under the dash then it'll reach to the new holes of the 6X9 and hold it in place.....major benefit better sound.
]
the next best suggestion is to mount 2 6X9's under the rear dash via the o/e mounting holes otherwise yer outta luck if you want to stick with an origional 100 point purist mobile

my car is a 74 road runner with 2 sets of 6X9's 2 12" subs door and kick panel 6" mids and 2 sets of tweeters i'm runnin 1500 watts rms wit 2 caps and 2 batteries and 2 alternaters
sounds sweet but works better

Thumbs up

You can fit a pair of 4" speakers in the same spot as a 4x10 with an ABS template trimed to fit.
