I bought a 4 spd out of a 74 dart sport, 318 I believe. The flywheel came with, will it work with my steel crank 340? Are there going to be balancing problems of any kind? The 340 is a 4spd motor.

If you are sure it was from a steel crank 318 it should be OK. I think one from a cast crank motor would have a whole bunch of holes drilled into the backside for balance.

318 & 340 share the same crank . as long as both were steel. No problem.

Had this with my 4 spd Duster. Went from a 318 to a 340. Did not have any issues.

Steel crank 318?
I'll try to find out what crank the 318 has. What if it does not have the steel crank? Will anything go wrong if I try to use the flywheel. I believe the 318 was a 74'. Is there anything I can do to modify this flywheel to use it on my steel crank 340 if I find out its from a cast crank 318? Thanks again guys.

I dont think it matters with the 318 as they were all internally balanced,no off set balanced dampeners or torque converters on a 318.should work. waynebo
