If you mount it on a frame rail, its going to resonate throughout the car. Holley makes a "quiet pack" for theirs. I think it is just a rubber mount.

Question

440dart_72,

Got any tips on dropping in a 440 into a dart? I read and article on it once but they jerry-rigged everything. I like to eventually put one in my 70swinger but would like to do a somewhat professional job at it.

Wow.

I just came across this post. I don't know if you still need help, but let me know. It has been so long you might have done it already.

Make sure you are running a return line that will take a significant load off the pump and quiet it down. They are all noisy as heck - mount them outside the car and as stated before use a rubber grommet set up in between the body/frame and pump.

BG280 is not a continuious operation (i.e. street duty pump) unless you have stepped down the voltage.

I've got about 1/2" of heavy rubber insulation between the electric fuel pump and the frame of my Dart. Even with that, the noise is loud. A lot of the noise comes from the mounting bolts. Since they are metal, they transfer a lot of noise to the frame.

put some glasspaks on it, some 12" speakers in the trunk, a good amp and CD player, and you won't even hear the pump...trust me it won't bother you!

course, it probably helps when you get as good of a deal as i did... 2 300watt 12" woofers for $50 at a big tool sale, and an amp for $120 (which is pretty cheap for good quality).

right now, i'm sellin the amp for $100...it still works, i just got a Jenson 200 watt for free...

email me for details/questions
