WELL FELLAS, I FINALLY FOUND THE CORRECT OFFSET FOR AN A BODY, IT IS 1 1/4" TO THE PASS. SIDE. THE FRAME RAILS ARE 30" APART, THE CRANK C-LINE IS AT 16 1/4". I VERIFIED THIS BY CHECKING THREE DIFFERNT A BODYS WITH V-8 DRIVE TRAINS. THE BIG PROBLEM THAT I HAD WITH THE MOTOR PLATES WAS THAT THEY ARE NOT MADE WITH THE OFFSET. I SHOULD CONTACT COMP ENGINEERING AND TALK TO THE TECH DEPT. I RAN ACROSS A SET OF THE MOPAR ELEPHANT EARS AND TRIED THEM, AND LIKED THEM!!. THEY NOT ONLY CENTER THE ENGINE, THEY SET ENGINE AT CORRECT HEIGHT. THE OTHER PLATES ARE MADE TO BUTT TO FRAME RAILS NOT REST ON THEM. ONE OTHER BIT OF INFO, IF YOU PLAN ON USING MARCH ALUM. PULLEYS WITH THEIR ALUM. BRACKET, PLAN ON FABRICATING A BRACKET AS THE ALT. WILL NOT DROP ALL THE WAY DOWN TO MEET ADJUSTER. THIS IS NOT MARCH'S FAULT, IT'S A MATTER OF MAKING THINGS WORK WITH ELEPHANT EARS. STAY TUNED, MORE ACTION PACKED RACE CAR BUILDING TO COME!!!

That's what we have been using, the elephant ears and our engines have just "centered" themselves and we use the same ears for both 383 and 440.
