My Charger has a 440, 60 over 10.5 to 1 cr. 509 cam, TCI Streetfighter, and 3500 stall. I thought I had a 3:91. I turn the wheel 1 full turn and the driveshaft turns allmost 3 1/4 turns but not quite. So I assume it's a 3:23 The question is should I change gear ratio? It sure burns enough gas! But I don't feel as though it's a very good combo with the stall speed. Any input is welcome..
26.7 inch tall tires.

Depends pretty much whats your goal? If it's big time acceleration go with 3.91 gear or even 4.10 and wake that bear alive!

With the converter you have and asssuming a 26 in. tall tire, I don't think dropping the gear ratio to even a 4.30 will make too much difference on gas consumuption. At highway speeds, you are still below the stall speed of the converter. Depending on your usage, a 3.91 to 4.10 should be acceptable. If you are using taller tires, say in the 27 to 28 inch tall area, even a 4.56 won't be too bad. You might be suprised and find out a slightly lower gear may even help mileage slightly since it will let your motor combination run closer to a more efficient rpm. With that much converter and the 3.23, I sure hope you have a good tranny cooler!

Some info I came up with for your 26.7" tires;
gear ratio / rpm@60mph / mph per 1000rpm
3.23 2407 24.9
3.55 2646 22.7
3.91 2914 20.6
4.10 3056 19.6
4.30 3205 18.7
4.56 3399 17.7
I'm running 4.10's with a 26" tire and a converter that flashes at 4200.Driving at freeway speeds of 75 or so can get pretty anoying having the rev's that high up.Gas milage sucks too.But the excelleration is great!I agree about running a good tranny cooler.The bigger the better.

Well, now I don't know if I want a 3:91 or a 4:10 I probably won't be on the highway alot but the main street I'm always on is 45-55.
The gear sets are the same price and I allready have a speedo gear for a 3:91
Hmmmmmmmm............

Charger, When i replaced the stock tires with 26" tires i had to go to a spedo gear for 3:55 gears to make the spedo show the right mph. The Cuda has 3:23 gears in it. If you go to 3:55 gears with your 26" tires you will have the same ratio as 3:91 gears with a 28" tire.. I am changing to 3:91 gears and 28" tires soon. I an running a 440 with a 3000 stall converter.

With your combination and no highway use (you did say the main street you're always on is 45-55 mph) I'd say go with the 4.10 gears. But the 3.91 gears will ease things a bit if you do need to drive at 60-65mph very often.
