Question

I just finished building the engine in my 86 turbo z. Bored .040 over, new bearings, pistons, rings, mopar performance cam #p4529314,high performance valve springs,hd oil pump, centerforce clutch&pressureplate, rebuilt turbo, and forged rocker arms. I also centerligned the cam at 102 deg. My problem, the car ran 16.45 @ 84 mph. (1 sec. slower than stock!!) The cam is supposed to make max power between 5000 and 8000 rpm, but i can't feel it or see it in my time slips. ANY POINTERS? ANYBODY!! I still have to buy MP p4452803 injectors, and MP p4529871 turbo computer. Anybody bought them? If so how well did they work? The engine power lets out around 5500 rpm and is very sluggish on take off. Anything I should do? Mopar Performance tech line couldn't tell me anything. I also converted the car from Auto to 5-speed. Thinking about converting it to a turbo 2 w/intercooler. Any major mods to do that? Any mopar 2.2l fwd freak needs to read the article about the 11 sec 2.2l fwd rampage in Mopar Action June 1999 issue to see what i'm wanting to do with my car. Turboz22l@aol.com

The problem is the "314" cam take it out and trash can it. I'll bet your faster with a stock one. I would buy the mp computor and the 803 inj's. I did not remember you saying you put bigger exhaust on? if not i would add a 2 1/2" cat back system. Brain Brinegar who works for me, has a 86 turbo 1 " Turbo Z" that is NHRA leagle for stock CF/SA and he has run low 14's in race trim with a auto trans.
